What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign orthodontic appliances are custom designed clear removable aligners. The clear aligners are popularly known as "invisible braces". They straighten your teeth discretely and require minimal effort. They can also be easily removed for eating, brushing, flossing, special occasions, important meetings, or taking family photos.
How Does Invisalign Work?
The Invisalign process is simple and straightforward:
First, we will take a set of impressions and photographs of your teeth during an initial consultation.
Next, we will use the impressions to create a 3D computer projection of how your teeth will look after your treatment is complete.
This information is then sent to the Invisalign labs to fabricate your custom aligners.
Your aligners will be expertly manufactured by the Align Technologies dental labs using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing processes.
When fabrication is complete, we will receive your aligners and dispense them to you one or two at a time during your six week checkups.
You will need to wear each aligner for about two weeks for at least 20 hours per day.
Most patients are able to complete their treatment in less than one year. However, we will be able to give you a better approximation of your treatment time during your initial consultation appointment.
What Orthodontic Problems Can Invisalign Correct?
-
Crowded Teeth: There is not enough room in the jaw for all of the teeth to fit normally.
-
Spaced Teeth: When there is too much space between the teeth due to abnormal growth of the jaw or shifting due to missing teeth.
-
Overbites: Where the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth.
-
Crossbites: Where the upper and lower jaws are misaligned, causing one or more upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth.
-
Simple Malocclusions: Invisalign may also be a treatment alternative for certain other bite irregularities.
